Technical Packaging Development Engineer II

ResourceMFG Search Group is seeking a Technical Package Development (TPD) Engineer assists the Package Concept Development (PCD) team
in the definition of packages which meet required criteria in terms of Functionality, Manufacturability,
Aesthetics, Safety, Innovation and Creativity, and Recyclability and Sustainability. The TPD Engineer executes
and validates the design of components and finished goods through first production.
II. Functions
Completely define revised, stock, and custom package design requirements and execute qualification
plans according to these requirements and corporate global and local Policy, Process, Standard Work
including Technical Readiness and CQV Parameters.

Develop and document testing plans, drawings, qualification tests, and final specifications including
limits and ranges for components and finished packages.
o
Collaborate with internal departments to determine timing and feasibility of new and/or existing package
designs related to cost, functionality, compatibility, and qualification.
o
Research alternative o designs to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
o Travel to component vendors and outside contractors, COTY global offices, and other sites as required.
o Participate in Cycle and Flow Time reduction for department activities and develop standard work.
o Research new ideas and innovation from strategic suppliers for COTY's exclusive use.
o Resolve component and specification issues for existing packages.
o Performs other related duties and responsibilities consistent with the classification of the position.
III. Knowledge / Abilities / Skills
Knowledge:
Detailed Knowledge
of the physical nature of materials and tooling which produce rigid and flexible packaging such as glass,
injection molding, tubes, folding cartons, etc.
o
o decoration techniques of above commodities
Working Knowledge
Physical nature of interactions between multiple components and packaging assembly methods,
including tolerance simulations
o
o of CQV (commissioning, qualification, validation) industrialization principles as it relates to new products.
o Lean Tools such as process mapping and standard work and root cause problem solving.
o ASTM, ISO, ISTA and other testing methods
o 49 CFR requirements related to shipment of Hazardous Goods
General Knowledge
o of Lean Tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5-S, Design of Experiment
o CGMP (Cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practices) per ISO 22716

Testing methodology, laboratory procedures, and application of measurement standards including use of
laboratory equipment

2-D and 3-D computer o assisted drafting using AutoCAD and Solidworks and 3-D modelling
o Statistical Process Control
o Participation and Facilitation of Failure Mode Effect Criticality Analysis events
o Project Management
o Provide direction and feedback for acceptability of vendors color matching and printed elements
o Palletization Software such as CAPE Pack and Logistical Specifications
Abilities:
o Work and make decisions autonomously as well as within focused teams
o Read and interpret blueprints and artwork
o Communicate and present on technical elements to both technical and non-technical audiences
o Negotiate with vendors, marketing, and creative teams to secure approvals of package designs.
o Ability to execute and provide risk transparency within accelerated launch timings
o Ability to manage multiple projects consecutively
o Define with direct manager development opportunities and execute individual training plan
o Travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
o Support a 24/7 manufacturing operation
Education Requirements:
o B.S Packaging Science or equivalent Engineering discipline
o 0-5 years of Package Development or equivalent experience within consumer goods industry.
Salary is 65KEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
