The Library Assistant II position is a journey level classification in the Library Assistant series.
The Library Assistant II, under the general supervision of the Head of Cataloging assists in the operation and supervision of a library service or department and performs related work as required.
This position requires availability on nights and weekends.
Essential functions include:
This position requires exemplary customer service skills and a commitment to outstanding service.
Assists in a specific service or department of the library as designated.
Tracks inventory levels on supplies and materials required to perform work.
May train and assign work to assigned volunteers.
Will be trained and scheduled to assist at the circulation desk as needed.
Performs circulation desk duties including but not limited to answering phones, assisting patrons, creating library card accounts, checking in and out materials, placing holds, collecting fines.
Specific to Cataloging:
Under direct supervision of Head of Cataloging Team.
Prepares library books, videos, CD's, DVD's, audio books, and other materials for circulation.
Performs routine maintenance on library materials, evaluates and makes appropriate repairs to damaged library materials.
Delivers processed library materials to public service areas.
Maintains accurate and detailed records and reports.
Maintains and updates processes and procedures manual for assigned responsibilities.
Minimum Education and
Experience:
Must have high school diploma or equivalency to apply.
An Associate's Degree in library science, business, or similar preferred.
Minimum of two or more years of relevant employment experience.
Some technology background and excellent customer service skills required.
Experience with Evergreen ILS preferred.
Special Requirements:
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
